Healthy food to try this Year

Who’s made New Year’s resolutions for 2015? We have and one of ours is to try and serve up a bit more healthy food on our PVC  tablecloths from time to time. Here are a couple of foodie trends that are actually good for us which we’ll be adopting over the next few months. Care to join us?

1.  Cauliflower

When it comes to veggies, you can’t do much better than the cauliflower. Chances are that you’ve heard all about cauliflower rice, which made a few waves last year. Well, 2015 is going to be the cauliflower’s time to shine. Use it instead of rice, as a pizza base – the options are endless!

2.  Bee pollen

Don’t be put off by how strange this sounds – bee pollen is fantastically good for you. It’s stocked up with protein, folic acid, amino acids, the whole jolly lot, so add some of this into your diet. Don’t heat it up, just take it as a supplement or stick it in a salad dressing.

3.  Coconut sugar

This is a natural sweetener derived from the coconut flower that has a low glycemic index, which makes it much healthier than refined sugar. Great to know!

4.  Baobab

This is an African fruit that has seriously good antioxidant qualities – it’s got six times more potassium in it than a banana and six times more vitamin C than an orange, so stick it on your shopping list right now.

5.  Matcha

Put down your usual cups of green tea, everyone – there’s a new drink in town. Matcha has 130 times more antioxidants than your typical green tea and is thought to reduce stress, boost your metabolism and increase your energy levels. Can’t say fairer than that.
