After a long dog walk in this dull winter weather, come home to a luxuriously warming hot chocolate. Once you’ve kicked off your boots, removed all your layers, rubbed down the dog, then head for the kitchen to start creating this decadent masterpiece that combines double cream, milk and real chocolate.
We’ve provided the basic recipe with our favourite toppings, but you can embellish your creation with whatever you can find in your store cupboard.
Forget the calories, this is your treat. After that long walk, you don’t have to feel guilty - you deserve it!
600ml semi skimmed milk
140ml double cream
100g good quality chocolate (milk or plain), broken into pieces
Squirty double cream
Salted caramel sauce
- Pour the milk and double cream into a small pan and add the chopped chocolate.
- Place on a low heat and bring to the boil, whisking until well combined and the chocolate has melted.
- Pour into individual mugs and top each with a swirl of cream.
- Sprinkle with your toppings, drizzle with melted chocolate and salted caramel sauce and finish with chocolate flakes.
- Serve straight away.
