TABLECLOTH IDEAS FOR MODERN GREY KITCHENS

While neutral colour schemes have been in fashion for around a decade, the modern trend is for tones of grey.  If this is the look you’ve gone for and you want a tablecloth to complete your kitchen, it’s worth taking the time to choose a wipe clean tablecloth which will match or contrast with your overall colour scheme.

Interior designers use the colour wheel to develop colour schemes for their clients.  The colour wheel enables you to pick colours which work well together. Take a look at our article on how to use a colour wheel but the main points to remember are:

  • For a matching, harmonic colour scheme find the main colour of your room on the colour wheel and then choose a tablecloth in one or more of the colours which sit next to it.  This doesn’t mean you can’t choose a patterned tablecloth with a number of colours but your chosen colour should be dominant.

You’ll see that harmonious colours which sit well with greys include taupe, mink and brown tones as well as brownish reds and corals as well as pinkish orange.

  • For a contrasting colour scheme look at the colours which are immediately opposite the main colour of your kitchen on the colour wheel.  These colours are fantastic to use in room accessories, like your tablecloth, as they work as accents to the overall colour scheme.

Colours which contrast with greys include blue and violet tones in various hues.
