Marsala – Pantone’s Colour Of The Year 2015

Marsala – Pantone’s Colour Of The Year 2015

It can be quite tricky keeping up with the ebbs and flows of interior design. One minute, something’s in fashion and the next it’s completely fallen out of favour, but you know when it comes to colours that Pantone really knows its stuff so if you’re thinking of investing in new pieces for your home next year, make sure you buy PVC tablecloths and other products in Marsala.

This earthy red hue has just been named Pantone’s colour of the year for 2015, a very robust shade that would be perfect to use either as a statement colour or to add a few interesting accents around the house.

According to the company, Marsala can be used to unify different parts of the home and would bring real touches of elegance wherever it is applied. It’s apparently brilliant for rugs and upholstery, but also ideal for tabletops, linens and smaller appliances – so it’s perfect for use in the dining room and kitchen, great news if you’re thinking of updating these spaces next year.

Executive director of the Pantone Color Institute Leatrice Eiseman said: “Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability. This tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while it’s grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness.”

But what to pair with it? Luckily, Pantone has done all hard work for you and put up some colour matches on its website to help you work out what other colours work well with Marsala, be it greys and light lilacs, ochres and corals or turquoises and lighter blues.

We’d love to see what you do with this new and exciting shade, so make sure you snap some photos of your home once you’ve brought the colour in and send them over to us on Facebook or Twitter.
